Hey! Who are you, and what are you working on?
Hey! We are ELAMIGO, a growing surf/beach inspired fashion brand. Our sole aim is to produce some really decent quality clothing that is easy going and laidback, yet is still stylish, meaning that it can be worn both on the beach and on the street.
We also place a huge emphasis on sustainability and are continually striving to become completely sustainable in our practices. Alongside all of this we want to create a community of people who share the same values and interests as we do in terms of saving the planet but looking good whilst doing it!
How did you come up with the idea?
It was during the first UK lockdown - I thought, well if I am going to be stuck at home doing nothing, I might as well make the most of it and do something good with it. I started with the name, ELAMIGO.
What is one thing surfers all have in common? A love for the sea. The water seems to have some sort of magical powers in that it makes everything better i.e., if you're sad, if you're stressed, if you're happy etc. the sea will always be there to take your mind off things and make you realise that everything is alright.
It brings you back to reality and connects you with nature. It is our 'friend' hence 'ELAMIGO'.
What are the main challenges in your business right now?
I am currently a student at University so I am finding it really hard to find the time to concentrate on both my studies and the business. It is also a big struggle trying to source nice, thick, high quality, sustainable clothing at a fair price. Let’s not even mention the funding...
What is your favorite surf spot and why?
Bantham beach, Devon, UK. Its close to home and the scenery is unbelievable.
